Do you ever feel like you are having to care for somebody or something, that you didn’t create? It’s that tense moment in leadership when you are carrying the burdens of other people’s mistakes, and you didn’t create the chaos, but you are having to live with the consequences! Sound familiar?
In Numbers 11 you find God’s chosen standing around complaining and it really ticked God off. Then, in return, Moses began to have a conversation with God that went something like this:
What did I do to deserve the burdens of all these people? Did I give birth to them? Did I bring them into this world? That’s not my baby!
One of the heavy parts of leadership is dealing with the chaos and confusion in other peoples lives! While it might not be your baby, it is your call! While being a successful leader will always have its benefits and blessings, it will also have its burdens. Count it an honor that God has entrusted you to lead people to a new way of living! They might not always follow, but that doesn’t give us permission to stop leading! Some seasons are full of sowing seeds and some seasons are full of reaping a harvest, but all seasons are ordained by God!
You might be ready to yell, “That is not my baby,” but keep leading anyway!
